Computers good fit for students

Walker-Ray is a senior at STCC and also plans to transfer to UMass with a computer science major.

The 28-year-old took on the Sudoku puzzle on another challenge from Silvestri, and used his application as a class project.

Sudoku is a numerical puzzle, similar to the crossword puzzle, with a nine-square grid in which each square has another nine smaller squares. Players try to fill the grid so that each row and each smaller grid contains the numbers 1 through 9 without repeats.

Internet users may click onto Walker-Ray's Web site at www.chriswr.com to play a game or solve a game.

Walker-Ray said that like his friend Ricci, he is driven to learn the mysteries that make computer programs work.

"I love the logic of computer work. I like figuring out computer code that makes things work the way you want them to work," he said.

Walker-Ray can see himself programming computer games one day.

Both men are connected to their computers day and night. Ricci has a computer that fits in the palm of his hand, and combines as a cell phone, camera, audio recorder and runner of entire programs.

"Computers are pretty much in my blood," he said.

Ricci is running a computer business, called REMAGINE, out of lower Broadway in New York City. He designs, builds and maintains Web sites for businesses and individuals.
